Warriors Repose, a project of González-Sisneros Studio, is a Vietnam War memorial located on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Dedicated to Pete Padilla and Manuel Mora, two young Chicanos from Albuquerque's South Valley who died in the war, the memorial acts as a literal and metaphorical gateway between the Rio Grande Bosque and the community of Barelas.
Commissioned by the State of New Mexico, Department of Cultural Affairs, Warrior's Repose was publicly dedicated by community leaders on Veteran's Day, 2015.
Spencer Beckwith, a producer at KUNM radio, interviewed the artists just prior to the dedication of the work. Listen to the interview here.
